Valentina Muñoz is a visiting Mitacs student from Colombia. She is working in the Kildea lab to implement Monte Carlo models to study the irradiation of cells with neutrons and obtain experimental data with track-etch detectors using a linear accelerator. Valentina’s educational milestones, includei: winner of the award for best poster in the Diagnostic Imaging modality at the ll National Congress of Medical Physics (Colombia); beneficiary of the “Ser Pilo Paga 4.0” program of the Colombian government, which allows access to higher education to low-income young people with the best scores on the ICFES state exam; winner of academic incentives in semesters 6 and 7 of the undergraduate physics program at Universidad del Valle, characterized by an intense academic load, which rewards the best averages of the cohort.
