Tarek Hijal

Associate Professor, Co-founder of the Opal Health Informatics Group

Dr. Tarek Hijal is an Associate Professor in the Gerald Bronfman Department of Oncology and the Chief of the Division of Radiation Oncology at the McGill University Health Centre. He is currently the President of the Comité National de Radio-Oncologie at the Québec Ministry of Health.

Dr. Hijal’s clinical work focuses on breast cancer, hematological malignancies and colorectal cancers. In addition to clinical research in breast and rectal cancer, Dr. Hijal has co-founded the Opal-Health Informatics Group (O-HIG) with Prof. John Kildea and Prof. Laurie Hendren. The O-HIG develops and deploys patient and data portals in medicine.
