Shruti is a MITACS Globalink Research Intern 2023 under the supervision of Dr. John Kildea at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre and an undergraduate student of Bachelor of Technology (Computer Science Engineering) at the Indian Institute of Technology, Indore in India. She is a curious person who enjoys solving challenging and innovative problems. As a MITACS intern, she is exploring a way to manage healthcare data by putting it fully under the patient’s control using the Solid web-decentralization framework of Tim Berners Lee (solidproject.org). This way, fragmented and scattered healthcare data that are currently in digital silos will be stored more efficiently, making the healthcare system truly interoperable and solving many of today’s issues that have arisen from sub-optimal data management. Additionally, she will explore opportunities to integrate this technology architecture into the Opal patient portal.
